The Domino Effect Pt 3: The Domino of Determination

The Domino Effect Pt 3: The Domino of Determination

Have you ever felt lost, unsure of your purpose or direction in life? Many of us struggle with this at some point, wondering if we're truly living out God's plan for our lives. The truth is, each of us has been created with intention and purpose. We are not cosmic accidents, but carefully designed individuals with a specific calling.

Imagine your life as a series of dominoes, carefully lined up and ready to fall in sequence. Each decision you make, each step you take, impacts the direction of your life's path. The question is - are you allowing those dominoes to fall in the direction God intends?

Too often, we find ourselves shaped by the world around us rather than by God's design. We become like a round ball, easily kicked in any direction by the influences and pressures around us. Or perhaps we're more like a football - capable of great direction and speed when thrown, but wildly unpredictable when we hit the ground.

What God desires is for us to be shaped like a domino - stable, purposeful, and always falling in the right direction no matter what bumps us. When we align ourselves with God's will, even the challenges of life can't knock us off course. Instead, they propel us further along the path He has set before us.

So how do we find and stay on this divine path? It starts with recognizing that we are qualified for the job God has given us. Colossians 1:12 reminds us that God "has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light." Our qualifications don't come from our own merits or abilities, but from Christ's work on the cross.

Too many believers feel unworthy or ill-equipped for the calling on their lives. They allow past mistakes or current struggles to convince them they're not ready to be used by God. But the truth is, God doesn't call the qualified - He qualifies the called. Your past does not disqualify you from your purpose. In fact, the very things you've overcome may be the key to helping others find freedom.

Our purpose is not just about using our talents or abilities. While those are gifts from God, they are tools to accomplish our true purpose - loving God and loving others. Jesus summed up our purpose in Matthew 22:36-40 when He said the greatest commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

This love should compel us to action. We are called not just to be saved, but to make disciples. The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 instructs us to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."

Making disciples doesn't always mean preaching from a pulpit. It can be as simple as inviting someone to church, sharing your testimony, or showing Christ's love through acts of service. The key is to stop sitting on the sidelines and start actively engaging in God's mission for your life.

For some, taking that first step can feel overwhelming. Where do you even begin? Start by talking to God. Ask Him to reveal your purpose and direction. Surround yourself with other believers who can encourage and support you. Join a small group, get involved in serving at your church, or find a mentor who can guide you.

As you step out in faith, you may be surprised to find that the very act of moving in God's direction brings healing and deliverance in your own life. When we focus on fulfilling our purpose and helping others, our own problems often fade into the background. We find freedom not by obsessing over our issues, but by losing ourselves in service to God and others.

Remember, movement is inevitable, but direction is determinable. You are always moving somewhere - the question is whether you're moving towards God's plan or away from it. Make the conscious choice each day to align your steps with His will.

Don't allow the enemy to isolate you or convince you that you're alone in your struggles. Everyone faces challenges, but we are called to press through them. As Philippians 3:14 says, "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Keep pressing forward, even when it's difficult.

Your life has the potential to create a cascading effect, influencing countless others for the Kingdom of God. Like a domino that sets off a chain reaction, your obedience to God's calling can impact generations. You may never fully know the extent of your influence this side of heaven.

So today, choose to be a positive domino in the lives of those around you. Let your life point others towards Christ. Be the kind of person that, when you bump into others, you nudge them in the right direction. Your past doesn't define you - it's the direction you choose from this point forward that matters.

As the Apostle Paul declared in Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." When we truly grasp this perspective, we realize we have nothing to lose by fully surrendering to God's purpose for our lives. Whether in life or in death, our goal should be to magnify Christ.

Today is the day to stop wondering about your purpose and start walking in it. You are here, in this specific time and place, for a reason. God has equipped you, positioned you, and called you for such a time as this. Will you answer that call? Will you allow your life to be that domino that falls in the right direction, setting off a chain reaction of lives changed for eternity?

The choice is yours. What direction will your domino fall?
